Sun City Oro Valley’s exercise clubs provide a great way to stay fit, active, and healthy while having fun. From strength training to yoga, water aerobics, and more, there are options for all fitness levels and interests.

Exercise

Aqua Tone

Muscle conditioning class using flotation devices and the natural resistance of the water.

Arthritis Water Class

Our 45-minute workouts are based on gentle water exercises designed by the Arthritis Foundation to relieve stiffness and pain, with emphasis on range of motion and endurance, and with minimum stress on joints. These exercises are great for arthritis, fibromyalgia, replaced joints, etc., and they also help improve balance. All movements can be modified and no one is expected to overdo.

This is an exercise club – Minimal yearly joining fee.

Core Conditioning

A non-aerobic, muscle-toning class, usually focused on core strength, using the abs throughout the whole workout.

Energetic Exercise

The Energetic Exercise Club meets in the spacious Activity Center Auditorium every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8 – 9 a.m. year ‘round. The goals are to improve and maintain cardio fitness and muscle tone through fun, teacher-led classes. The classes offer complete flexibility for all levels of fitness. Fitness equipment is used in class, but it is always optional. Annual membership is only $3. Members then buy 12-class punch cards that are only $30, payable to the instructor. Both the membership application and punch cards are available at the class. All are welcome.

Fitness Swim Club

Interested in improving your stroke, endurance, or speed – please consider joining the Fitness Swim Cub. We are a mix of rationally ranked masters swimmers and triathletes, former high school and university competitive swimmers, and recreational lap swimmers. The coach, with extensive experience coaching national level swimmers, as well as age-group and masters swimmers tries to accommodate a mix of abilities. Participants should be capable of swimming a mile in under 50 minutes. We swim mostly freestyle but occasionally fly, back, and breaststroke are added as are pull sets and kicking. Please ensure you have medical clearance to participate in a vigorous workout.

Karate

Dedicated to enhancing the physical and mental well-being of seniors through martial-arts. Karate strengthens the body, improves balance and mental acuteness, promotes confidence and a positive attitude, and teaches personal selfdefense. Training starts with the student’s present condition and knowledge, then helps each to improve.

Parkinson’s Exercise

Exercise is one the most important keys to success when living with Parkinson's disease (PD). Exercise has been proven to help alleviate the symptoms of Parkinson's. There are a variety of exercises that are beneficial for individuals with Parkinson’s. No matter what you like to do, the most important key to exercising – keep moving! This exercise group meets twice a week.

Pilates

"The Joseph Pilates system of exercises has never been in such high demand. His exercises have now been used for for 40 years! Fortunately, Sun City offers the Joseph Pilates classes here twice per week in the Aquatic and Fitness Center. People ask “can the benefits of this Pilates method, which come from the strengthening and stretching exercises we do, really develop the body’s core (abdomen and back muscles), increase spine mobility and build flexibility?” The answer is a definite “yes”. Additional benefits a person will.see from taking these group mat classes will include better balance, more muscle tone and increased stamina. We have two excellent, certified instructors who are experienced in the Joseph Pilates system and teach our classes year-round.

Sit to be Fit (Chair Aerobics)

Sit To Be Fit (Chair Aerobics) - Class will benefit all members, especially those who have a difficult time with conventional aerobic classes. This class will incorporate hand weights, dyna-bands and balls as resistance to increase muscle tone, strength, and endurance.

Sunrisers

Increase strength, flexibility, endurance, and life satisfaction. Routines include stretching, light aerobics, resistance exercises with weights and floor work. Bring hand weights and floor mats.

Sweat & Stretch

This class consists of a basic 10 minute warm-up to prepare for 20 minutes of low impact aerobics, followed by 30 minutes of weights, abs, and glutes. The last 30 minutes include stretches for toning, flexibility, and relaxation. Bring hand weights and floor mats.

Tai Chi

Practice Tai Chi exercises and form. Reduces risk of falling by 48%, lowers blood pressure, is good for the heart, and controls stress. Club – Minimal yearly joining fee

Water Aerobics

Consists of warm-up exercises with stretching, the 20-30 minutes of aerobics, followed by toning, cool down and final stretching. Water shoes needed, a "noodle" recommended plus a 48-inch Aqua Flex bar.

Yoga

The Yoga Club offers a variety of yoga classes designed to support strength, flexibility, balance, and overall well-being for residents of all experience levels. From gentle and chair sessions to strengthening and stretching, each class is led by experienced instructors who provide clear guidance and modifications to ensure a safe, welcoming environment. Whether you’re new to yoga or looking to deepen your practice, our classes promote relaxation, improved mobility, and a strong sense of community. Zumba

If you like to dance, you’ll love Zumba. This exercise program mixes together Latin-inspired rhythms with easy-to-follow moves. The result? A fun and effective fitness class that feels more like a night out dancing. Join the Party!
